Sunset at the St. Mochta's House, Louth, Ireland

I drew my attention to this place when I was looking at pictures of my friend Richie's evening outing. Richie knows and visits many interesting places around Louth and Meath.

The Mochta's House (click for map link), also called the Monk's House, dates back to the 12th–13th centuries.

It took me several evenings to wait for the right weather for the sunset. This evening wasn't perfect either; a few more clouds would have added character and drama to the photos.

But oh well, you can't have everything, and the evening was beautiful anyway.

I had never been to the lovely village of Louth, from which "the Wee County" takes its name. The oratory of St. Mochta's House is located in the middle of the farmland, a few meters from the ruins of St. Mary's Augustinian Priory. Due to the crop still growing, I did not want to enter the field and destroy it, so I photographed the orators from under the abbey walls.

We stood squeezed between grain, nettles, and a wall.

I was supposed to take and edit only one photo, but with such light and landscape, it's hard to resist. After that, it was only worse. I present to you all the photos I chose and edited. Each with different lenses, but practically the same settings.
