A few weeks ago I decided, after repeatedly postponing it, to go with the camera to Saletrstown Pier. Salterstown Pier is a popular gathering area for locals, where they may swim, eat, and spend leisurely summer days. The Cooley Mountains may be seen across Dundalk Bay, and the beautiful Mourne Mountains are hazy in the background. Those in the know believe it's the best spot around. In winter time you can also meet cold water swimmers.

I planned to catch some people deep in the cold Irish sea at dawn. After taking a few planned photographs I drove a couple hundred meters away towards Drogheda. When I was walking on a nearby beach, looking for another object to photograph, I noticed a flock of wild geese approaching. More and more were reaching those who sat on the shore. The rising sun, wild birds, an interesting pattern of clouds, and a beach - what more and more beautiful could nature have painted? It was hard to stop taking photos. Two noisy runners decided to interrupt the session by scaring the birds.
